Planning 10 - Financial Life Skills Pre-Test

What are your life goals? At this point in your life, what do you think will make you happy. Free time? A big house? A job which does something for the greater good of society? Recreation? A family?

All these things take money? Some more than others? This is where financial planning comes in. In this unit you will do the 16 lessons in the table to the left? These lessons come from the British Columbia Securities Commission. To use the BCSC Website students must login to the website. In these lessons we will use Microsoft Excell frequently to aid you in every day Mathematics that you will be able to use for the rest of your life. All Grade 10 Mathematics courses ask you to know how to use spreadsheets so it will be helpful to know how to use them.

Registering with BCSC Website

  • Students go to http://www.bcsc.bc.ca/Planning10/for_students.aspx?SID=
  • I want to register / click on register
  • My teacher is using the website and has given me our class ID. / click the radio button
  • Enter Class ID
    • obtain it from your teacher.
  • Register your name and email if you have one. 
  • Check the I agree box / submit

Take the Pre-Test

  1. Go to BCSC Website / Login / take the What Do You Know Pre-test
  2. Print off you results
  3. On the back of the page in one paragraph reflect on:
  • What you know
  • What you didn't know
  • Whether or not you use any financial skills or you are just hoping for the best.
